It is so helpful being able to write on the tape measure. No more "was that 5/16 or 7/16, better go back and check" or trying to remember the dimension between phone calls. Good size fits easy in my hand and getting measurements from a tape lying flat is easier than eyeballing it from a wobbly regular tape. You cannot point the tape and hook it like a regular tape, so you move more as you use it, but it means you hook it exactly where you want it first time. Obviously the tape is limp so it has to lie on something with support. The spring on the retract is stronger than anything else out there, it will whip the tape back so fast I reach for safety glasses. I wish I could buy just the tape to attach it to my miter stand and other jigs.
